"The team culture makes work enjoyable, and the job offers chances to grow skills like management every year.”
Meet Dawson, a seasoned Acresa team member from Moosomin, Saskatchewan. Dawson grew up on a farm near his hometown and now lives in Saskatoon while pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Saskatchewan. With three summers of experience under his belt, Dawson is eager to return for his fourth year—and even hopes to join Acresa’s US operations after graduation.
Why Acresa?
For Dawson, the decision to join Acresa was twofold: the opportunity to earn competitive pay to support his university expenses and the chance to work alongside friends who were already part of the team. From the outset, it was clear that Acresa wasn’t just a job—it was a community.
The unique Acresa team culture
What sets Acresa apart, according to Dawson, is its strong and vibrant team culture. “We’ve built a great staff culture where we all get along, hang out, and have fun. It makes work so much more enjoyable,” he says. Whether it’s attending a country music festival like Craven, joking around on-site, or enjoying days off together, the camaraderie among the team creates an environment that’s both productive and enjoyable.
Building skills and taking on challenges
Over his time with Acresa, Dawson has honed key professional skills, particularly in management. His role has expanded to include scheduling staff, organizing crews, and ensuring smooth operations—practical experience that complements his management studies. He looks forward to further developing these skills to take on more responsibilities and support his team leader, Steven.
Memorable projects and experiences
Dawson recalls working on Steel Reef gas plants as one of the most memorable projects. “The massive infrastructure and complex site processes are interesting,” he explains, noting the unique mix of intrigue and awe he has for the work being completed on these types of worksites.
Why join Acresa?
Dawson encourages others to consider joining Acresa for its unmatched team dynamic and skill-building opportunities. “The team culture makes work enjoyable, and the job offers chances to grow skills like management every year,” he shares. From staff outings to learning opportunities, Acresa provides an environment where employees thrive both personally and professionally.
For Dawson, Acresa isn’t just a workplace—it’s a place to grow, connect, and succeed. If you’re looking for a rewarding summer job with a supportive team, Acresa might just be the perfect fit.
Rachel
Certified Acresa Technician since 2018
“Steve’s passion for his business is motivating and creates a positive work environment.”
Meet Rachel, a dedicated member of the Acresa team. Raised on a mixed grain and cattle operation outside of Maryfield, Saskatchewan and a recent graduate from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Agronomy, Rachel joined Acresa in 2018 and brings a unique blend of practical farm knowledge and advanced education to the team.
Why Acresa?
The opportunity to work for Acresa was a natural fit for Rachel, as the company was founded by Steve, a long-time family friend. When Steve approached her to be his first summer student, it felt like the perfect chance to grow professionally while building on her agricultural background. “It seemed like a great opportunity to expand my knowledge on plant identification and translating that information to the right tank mix,” Rachel explains.
A truly unique work setting and team culture
Rachel enjoys many aspects of working with Acresa. “I love working outdoors. Every day and every site are different, and I can connect my agriculture background to most of the work, even though most of our projects are industrial,” she says. Another highlight is the positive work environment fostered by Steve’s passion for his business.
For Rachel, what truly sets Acresa’s team culture apart is the shared drive and cooperation. “Our team culture is unique because equal drive and participation determine our success and efficiency for the day. This means helping each other when needed, as well as fostering a positive work environment where transparency and asking questions are encouraged.”
Memorable projects
The most interesting project Rachel has worked on at Acresa was a reclamation site. “It was very cool to see the progress over multiple years as we ‘weeded out’ invasive plants and worked toward returning the site to its original state,” she reflects. Witnessing the site’s transformation reinforced her passion for responsible land management.
Goals for the future
Looking ahead, Rachel is focused on continuing her family’s multi-generation farm and competing at the highest level of curling. With her background and dedication, she’s determined to make a meaningful impact both on the farm and in her personal pursuits.
Why join Acresa?
For Rachel, Acresa isn’t just a workplace—it’s a place that combines professional growth, teamwork, and a shared commitment to making a difference. Whether you’re passionate about agriculture, outdoor work, or challenging projects, Acresa offers an environment where you can grow and thrive.
Trevor
Certified Acresa Technician since 2020
“The work culture is fantastic, and being outdoors every day is a huge bonus.”
Meet Trevor, a passionate and hardworking member of the Acresa team. Originally from Wawota, Saskatchewan, Trevor moved to Calgary and Regina to pursue his education. He holds a Chemical Engineering Tech Diploma from SAIT in Calgary and is currently employed at Linde, working at an air separation facility in Regina. Trevor has been a valued member of the Acresa team since 2020, and his passion for the outdoors and sports makes him an excellent fit for the company.
Why Acresa?
Trevor’s journey with Acresa began when he was seeking a summer job during university. Looking for an opportunity to work outdoors, Acresa was the perfect match. “I wanted a job that would let me spend most of my summer outside, and Acresa offered that. It also provided a chance to gain some valuable hands-on experience,” he explains.
Variety and camaraderie
Trevor enjoys the variety of tasks and the opportunity to work outdoors every day. “The days can be long, but the fact that we’re outside is such a bonus. The work itself is great, and I also really enjoy the culture Steven has created at Acresa,” he says. The camaraderie among the team members and the supportive atmosphere makes Acresa a great place to work.
What makes the team culture unique?
According to Trevor, the culture at Acresa is defined by the people Steven hires. “Steven hires people who share common interests. The team gels well together, and the work environment is relaxed because Steven doesn’t micromanage. We’re trusted to make decisions and work independently, which helps keep things fun and stress-free,” he explains.
Memorable projects
One of the most interesting projects Trevor worked on was the Steel Reef gas plants. “It was rewarding to work on something that was so closely related to what I learned in school,” he reflects. “Being able to apply that knowledge in a real-world setting is a valuable experience.”
Growth and development
Acresa has played a significant role in shaping Trevor into a more diligent worker, enhancing his organizational skills, and refining his people management skills. These experiences have been hugely beneficial to his career and education goals. As for the future, Trevor is focused on continuing to build his career, whether at Linde or with Acresa. “I want to keep progressing in my career and the company I’m currently at. If Acresa takes off as a year-round opportunity, I’d love to continue growing with the company,” he says.
Why join Acresa?
For Trevor, Acresa isn’t just a workplace—it’s an ideal place for both personal and professional growth, offering outdoor work, a supportive team environment, and opportunities to develop his skills in the workplace. Whether you’re interested in this kind of work or just love spending time outdoors, Acresa provides a chance to be part of something unique.

With a background in welding, a passion for learning, and experience as a homemaker and mother of two, Tamara brings a wealth of skills and resilience to her role at Acresa. Since joining the company in 2019, she’s been an integral part of the team, balancing professional growth with her love for the outdoors and close-knit community.

For Tamara, Acresa feels like home. The company’s proximity to her roots and its solid future made it an obvious choice. Beyond that, Acresa offers opportunities for growth that align with her aspirations, creating a perfect environment for her to thrive.
A dynamic and supportive team culture
The demanding nature of Acresa’s work fosters a unique bond among team members. “We see each other’s vulnerabilities because of how much time we spend together and that brings us closer,” Tamara explains. Acresa also supports team-building activities outside work hours, helping to strengthen connections. This strong workplace camaraderie, full of laughs and support, makes even the toughest jobs rewarding.
A career of memorable projects
Her work with Acresa has taken her to incredible sites, from expansive pumpjack fields in Manitoba to massive gas plants and wind farm projects like Bekavar. However, Tamara’s favorites are the projects nestled in Moose Mountain Provincial Park, where the quiet beauty of trees, hills, and nature makes long days feel effortless.
Skills and growth
Since joining Acresa, she’s cultivated valuable leadership and training skills, complementing her pursuit of an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate at the University of Fredericton. Acresa’s fast-paced and challenging environment has given her purpose and room to grow, both personally and professionally.
Why join Acresa?
“If you like to work hard, even if it’s just for a few summers while in college, you won’t regret it,” she says. The friendships formed at Acresa are lifelong, and the unique experiences gained—whether through exciting projects or the shared camaraderie—are unmatched.
For Tamara, Acresa isn’t just a workplace—it’s a place where hard work meets opportunity, growth, and a sense of belonging. Whether you’re starting your career or looking for a new challenge, Acresa offers an experience like no other.
