Multi-tank mix-type spraying for 3,500 well sites

The challenge 

In 2024, our largest client tasked us with spraying approximately 3,500 wells across a huge area spanning  
250 km x 200 km. The bare ground spray program involved specific geographic regions, some requiring up to five different tank mix prescriptions applied with exact timing to ensure optimal success rates. Additionally, the client’s partial residual and contact spraying programs focused heavily on one region, leaving us a very narrow window to complete all herbicide applications once weed staging became ideal. The scale and complexity of the project, combined with unpredictable weather conditions, posed a significant challenge. 

Our response 

Utilizing our PureAim concept, we were able to efficiently spray all pre-emergent prescription sites with vast amounts of infrastructure under optimal wind conditions and just ahead of vital rainfall events. This activated the barrier component of the residual tank mix, ensuring optimal results.

Regions that took the prior vendor roughly six weeks to spray, we completed in five days, all while continuing to service our other clients’ facilities. This rapid turnaround was possible through strategic pre-listing of locations and spray volumes, customized maps, and leveraging the scale of our fleet.

• Pre-listing locations: Predetermined chronological order of facilities and spray volumes ensured efficiency, with a proven year-over-year 20-25% efficiency compared to standard well lists we receive from clients.

• Customized mapping: Tailored maps allowed for optimal navigation of the most efficient spray routes in conjunction with the customized well list. 

• Fleet scaling: Our fleet’s capacity allowed us to cover a large geographic region in days, rather than weeks or months. 

By dialing in on the right weather conditions and executing precisely within narrow tank mix timeframes, we avoided issues like site inaccessibility due to wet conditions or chemical inefficacy caused by high winds or temperature extremes.
